Quotes on Parenting

I have come across two pearls of wisdom on parenting this week:

Choose your battles wisely ~ give patience where patience is due, and continually ask God for wisdom in discipline.
(This was on a sidebar of one of the blogs I read recently. I can't remember which one, but it has stuck with me and really challenged me to have a balanced approach with my parenting, and to always seek God for wisdom when disciplining.)
Instead of "In five minutes..."-Think "For five minutes"
(This came from a speaker at a MOPS session awhile back and I use it daily! It helps me put my children first, above housework, or busy-ness, but also reminds me to again, maintain that balance. In other words, when your child asks for your attention instead of saying "in five minutes" say "for five minutes". This gives them the attention they need and want, and gives you the freedom to get back your duties as a homemaker in a timely matter)

  1. This may be just the encouragement I needed. I love the "for 5 minutes" reminder. All too often, I make my kids wait for me to be finished with what I'm doing.

  2. Cool idea on the "for 5 minutes" thing. I never would've thought of it, and it makes so much sense!
