Mommy and Daughter "Date"

My Little Miss and I went on a "date" last night. I hadn't really considered it so, I just wanted some quality alone time with just she and I...But at dinner she looks up at me with those doeful eyes and says

"Mommy, are we on a date?"

I thought about it...."Yes" I said. "We are. When two people want to spend time getting to know each other or grow closer-that's a date."

"I like dates." She said.

"Me too."

We went to Boston Market (It's her favorite "Fast Food"). Her favorite food right now is chicken noodle soup. Next, we went to the Christian book store and bought a present, a "gigi" doll and a present for Grandma for Christmas (which oddly represented a present for Kya herself, but she said it was for her and Grandma to do together. To cap off the evening we rented the movie "Horton Hears a Who".

It was a wonderful date!

What do you do to spend qualit time with your children?

  1. Too sweet! I'm going on a date today with my little guy. He wants to go to Starbucks for a chocolate milk and to read a story by the fire place.

  3. My 2-year old and I love to snuggle. She is a big snuggler! My 1-year old son is not, so I love stealing these precious times with her. She also loves for me to read her books, so we do a lot of that together. I'll look forward to more mommy-daughter & mommy-son outings as the kids get older.

  4. How fun...I always like to do one on one "dates" with my girls...but need to do more. Thanks for sharing! She's a cutie! When my girls kiss daddy, they ask if they can Marry him, hehe...

  5. We love Gigi!
My girls and I do our girls day out thing where we'll get our toenails painted (they usually charge like $3 to paint kids nails) or go shopping and I'll let them pick out 1 shirt/hair bow or go to Jamba Juice or Starbucks (they get hot chocolate and think they're grown). The boys do their own thing. Fun...fun!

  6. So cute! I'm glad you had a nice time. I need to do that with my kids. Finding one on one time for all three of them is sometimes difficult! Horton Hears a Who.... Isn't that a wonderful movie. My son loves it! We love Dr.Suess books!
