DIY File Folder Activity: Alphabet & Shape Match Up

I have a serious liking for all things that cost a dollar! Whether it's the dollar store, the dollar spot at target, the dollar section at Michael's Arts and Crafts, or even one of my fave online stops: Dollar Store Crafts, I am always on the lookout for ways to make learning and crafting not only fun but inexpensive!

Today's activity is no exception! It comes courtesy of my master teacher at the preschool I work at. We used Alphabet Wall Clings to make a File Folder Matching Activity. I don't normally use embellished fonts with my alphabet activities, but I couldn't resist as these were so cute! A bonus, the kids can match the letters and shapes! We used one cet for the file folder and one set for the pieces to match up. The kids loved it!

If you are wondering where you can find the Wall Clings I used, they're from the Dollar Tree and they look like this...

Because I already had the file folder and contact paper for "laminating", the entire project cost $2!! Woo-hoo!

  5. Hmmm...I may have to file this idea in my mind for later (once DD is old enough). We're planning on homeschooling so this will be great!

I just bought these today after seeing your post. Even though my DD is only 19 months old she still likes looking at letters and shapes.

  9. It's a pleasure to meet you and your great blog. Now I know what Muffin Tin Monday is - I've seen posts about them on other blogs I visit. And this activity is great for us - I always look for something that is clean, simple and doesn't require a lot of prep. I am going to stop at my Dollar Store today to look for those stickers.

  16. I made this the other day and it is such a wonderful idea. The only change we made was we used lowercase letters because we just started working with those. We took it with us to a restaurant the other day to keep our little one occupied while we waited. She really enjoyed it and we loved watching her when she got the right matches. Thank you for sharing this idea! :)
