  24. Michelle, I love the scissors. When my grandmother died, I got her sewing box and her recipe box. Both of which I vividly remember sitting next to while watching her work her magic. I love baking things that SHE baked...and reading the recipe that SHE wrote. Many times, I don't even need the recipe, but I'll take it out. It's almost like it's her sitting watching ME bake now.

So glad you have some special memories and momentos of Mom.

Hi michelle, stopping by from sits and this photo is the bomb. I totally understand it with a passion. I had to give you a follow.
I got my Grandmothers sewing basket, not a normal sewing basket or a average Grandma but for Mothers day a couple of years ago I made a crazy small quilt with a photo of Mom and I in it with all the trims and things from that basket, mom loves it.
    Cheers to you and blessings.

  51. Love the photo! That's a beautiful thought.

  52. Nice.
I, too, have sentimental scissors -- my MIL specifically gave them to me (instead of the other 7 DIL's)before passing away. Each time I use them I feel her hand in mine as I ask her for guidance. She was an accomplished home seamstress, and wish I'd had more time to learn from her.
    --One tip:
Get a mini padlock (they keep the scissors locked shut) to secure those gems if you have people in your home that think scissors are all purpose tools. Let's just say I've learned that lesson.

  53. Completely understood, I only wish I had more time in 'therapy'!

    Happy FB day!

  54. Oh, this is SO VERY special!!

  56. i am a big fan of handwriting- that each person has their own style and if you were to get something in your mailbox that was hand addressed, you would probably know who it was from immediately. what a gift that you have these scissors... and a treasure from your Mom.

    ReplyDelete
  57. that's so amazing...i love that we can touch something that our loved ones touched even though they may no longer be with us. that small, tangible something is so significant.

  58. How fun that your mom left you her crafting supplies. A great way to feel close to her and craft at the same time.

    ReplyDelete
  59. That is so funny! Just today I blogged about being bitten with the Craft Bug with the birth of my baby. Yesterday I made her bows for the first time and I even made her a tutu! It is a mother thing. It is a the-ra-py thing!

  60. Happy Sits Day!! It is very special to have something special from your mom's crafting supplies. I have my great-grandmother's sewing machine. It doesn't work any more but I keep it in the room to remind me of the gifts that my grandmother passed down from generation to generation.

  61. I know you will cherish those crafting supplies forever.

What a wonderful way to remember your Mom. Doing something you both loved and using her tools to do it. I have a crochet hook that my Nana gave to me and I cherish it!

  85. Happy SITs Day!

    I love the scissors.

  86. It's funny how something so simple can have such great meaning. I have my Beloved Mother's tin 1/4 cup measuring cup she used to measure sugar for her sweet tea. Every time I use it I feel so close to her.

  92. New here from SITS. Love that the scissors have the word "therapy" on them. There is nothing more therapeutic than cutting and creating things. So neat that it's in her handwriting, too.

    ReplyDelete
  93. So amazing to keep these with you. It's such a differnet feeling to use 97 cent scissors from your crast store than your own moms. Could even be the same scissors, but the ones that have meaning seem to being out the more crafty side in us.

  94. What a gift of love. Wonderful the things we hold dear.
