Muffin Tin Monday

Thank you for joining me this fine Monday! Welcome to all of our new participants and lurkers! If you are new to Muffin Tin Monday, you can read a little more about that here: Muffin Tin Monday FAQ. And if you are thinking about joining us for Muffin Tin Monday, but aren't sure...Read 5 Answers to 5 Reasons You Have Not Joined MTM. Want to mention that Muffin Tin Monday is geared towards showcasing (and thereby inspiring other moms) the muffin tin meals we make for our kids, but that doesn't mean you can't make them for yourself or the whole family! There is no theme this week for Muffin Tin Monday. So, "bring to the table" whatever you (or your kids) want this week!

With a "free" week, I knew it was the perfect time to try Our Homeschool Fun's "Muffin Tin Trail Mix Game". I put 6 different items for DIY trail mix in each cup and had the kids roll two dice. One die was for which compartment to choose from and the other die determined how many pieces they could take. This week also brings a new muffin tin to our kitchen! Hooray for thrift stores and finding this little heart-shaped beauty for $1.99!! It's actually a butter mold made by the heart healthy butter alternative "Promise". I used a dry erase marker to label each tin with a number (Learning while you eat is fun!).
The kids absolutely LOVED this! It was a huge hit! After several turns with two dice, we went down to just one and they could choose whatever they wanted to put into the bag-the die determined the quantity. Many, many thanks to Susana over at Our Homeschool Fun for this terrific idea and for allowing me to post about it!

  5. Adorable new "tin" (or butter mold) ;-) and adorable idea! Cute cute cute! Which just proves to me that I should still be "playing" even when there's not a theme. I'll have to try this when my kids are old enough to count. Well... maybe my 3 year old could pull this off. She does have a superhero for a mom you know ;-) Lol!

  12. Can Muffin Tin Monday's be used as a reason to have kids? I guess I could do this for my dog or DH, but I don't think they would get quite as excited as a little one. These tin meals are so adorable, a great way to show creativity, and I can't imagine how fun it would be to see a little one enjoy these! I will be tuning in and living vicariously through you!
