Perler Bead Crafting

We recently got a hold of a pearler bead kit (thanks Grandma!) and had a wonderful time as a family creating little pearler bead pieces of goodness. Even The Muffin Tin Dad joined in on the fun! The Muffin Tin Kids were so proud of their masterpieces.

Weekends are the perfect time to grab a craft kit. There are a wide variety of kits for all interests, skill levels, and price points. So, what are you waitng for? Spend time today together today as a family creating something. !

(Disclaimer: Pearler bead kits and other kits with small pieces are not meant for children under 3. Please be careful!)

  1. I've found this with quilting -- I used to love the creative part of planning a project, but it is impossible when my toddler is around. I found a few kits (like an advent calendar) in my closet this week, and they were perfect for sewing in there with my son on my knee. We had a great time and produced something start to finish in a week. I think the same thing is true of those kids crafts. Often my son is wanting to do art and bringing me paper or glue and I'm saying, "but, wait, I have to think of a project first!" It can be nice to have that part done for you now and them. Your bead creations are very cute. :)

  2. I actually have quite a stash of store bought craft kits! I love picking up the $1-$3 kits at AC Moore, they are very similar to those on Oriental Trading but you can buy singles instead of 12! Recently I picked up a few Halloween kits for 80% off at Michael's too!

  3. I love craft kits. We always buy ours at Joanns Crafts. They help on those days when you don't want to plan!

  4. A big AMEN! on the craft kits. I think the emphasis should be on creativity, not on how hard you had to work to round up supplies.

If someone were so inclined they could make small perler picture frames to fit those itty-bitty school photos and glue the whole works to an undesired (think pizza delivery) refridgerator magnet. This hits so many different crafty points that you get a bonus score! LOL

  5. I love premade craft kits. They make life so much easier! Your bead kits turned out very cute! I have bought some also and we have done them. I don't think they should get a bad rap!

  8. Those kits are super cool. My son has them in his classroom at school and I definitely plan on getting some for our house now that you reminded me about them! Thanks!

  9. I totally agree! We love art in our house and love all the great craft kits we can buy we also do some home made stuff, we made play dough the other day so easy!

Some days in our home school we just color and do art all day!

I have a great play dough recipe on my blog.

  10. My friend bought my daughter a jewelry box that you decorate with lots of little stickers - having to match the colours. She loved it and it looks really cute.
Kits as you say are a nice stress-free craft (even if the 1000+ stickers did make be nervous)
