I love Hymns. I do! I don't know if it is because I grew up singing them, or becuase of their rich language and imagery, but I love them! Last night Trevor and were spending time in the word (seperate, but together) and I was reading in a book of Hymns(a gift from my sister and brother-in-law). It is a great devotional for me. I think my favorite is Praise To the Lord, The Almighty. It has such rich language that stirs in me a contemplation of God's Goodness, His Faithfulness, His Provision in my life. My favorite line is a tie between "Have you not seen? How your desires have been, granted in what He ordaineth?" and "Ponder aknew, what the Almighty can do".
So then, God led me to Psalm 103. I love the Psalms too! This just happens to be my favorite Psalm! Isn't God wonderful? One of My favorite lines is "But from everlasting to everlasting, the love of the Lord is with those who fear Him". Again, the imagery and langauge of this Psalm compells me to ponder God's character. I could go on and on...There is the Praise Song "Think about His Love" which directly qoutes Psalm 103...I encourage you to read them (If you click on the underlined word it will link you to the song or psalm.Due to copyright laws I can't link to Think about His Love.) But I line I love is "For as high as the heavens above, so great is the measure of our Father's love..."
I hope you are encouraged!!
