Practice an ABAB pattern with your preschooler (useful for building pre-math skills) using a large circle and rectanglular strips (1 1/2 by 3 inchs). We alternated yellow and orange several times to fit around the "sun". We will also be using it as a summer countdown calendar (there are twelve "rays", perfect for the twelve weeks of summer!).

It would make a great craft without laminating and velcro, but I wanted it to last all summer long and for the kids to be able to do it over and over again!
Here's the other side. can't decide which is the front and which is the back. I like them both!
This is such a neat idea. I have a boy who has autism and this would help him master when events happen.
ReplyDeleteI love this idea. I can't wait to try it with my little girl. She has never done patterning before but I think she is ready. What do you use to laminate?
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute idea!!! I love it!
ReplyDeleteI like the circle as the front and the rays in the back best. Very simple and cute project!
ReplyDeleteDef like the circle on the outside... that looks super fun! I wonder how it would stand up to a toddler?

ReplyDeletevery cute! i wonder if my dd could do it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun way to practice ABAB, and one I've never done! Love how it's more art than math seeming to the kids, gets them learning and practicing while having so much fun they don't notice!
ReplyDeleteReally great idea!
ReplyDeleteI love this pattern activity. Thank you for the idea!
