The game is a fantastic way for families who love the Wii to spend time together and get active, all while having fun. With an emphasis on sports, the first installment of Get Moving, will have you and your family enjoying everything from baseball to ice skating.
Here are some quick facts about the game to know before you buy.
- The price point is $29.99
- It has an ESRB rating of "E" for Everyone.
- It hit shelves on June 15th and can be found anywhere Wii games are sold.
- You can design your own character (known as a "Jumpee") to race and play
- You can build customized routines for extra challenge and set each game to easy, medium or difficult
- There is a single or multi-player option
- You can choose your game location -play underwater, on a farm, in Egypt or 8 other fun locations
- features important tips on staying healthy
Here's what we loved:
- It's similar to Wii Fit and Wii Sports, in that it has game content that focuses on a wide range of sports, fitness and balance games. However, it has all of Jumpstart's unique style and yet has kids in mind.
- The baseball, volleyball and pinball balance game were our favorites.
- We loved that you can "practice" separate skills within a sport (i.e. -both catching and hitting in baseball and serving and spotting in volleyball)
- As a parent, I love that it promotes an active healthy lifestyle and engages the players on an interactive level (instead of passive consumption).
Here's what we think needs a little work:
- The Wii remote seemed to be very sensitive to player use. This might prove difficult for the younger aged children below six years. (We experienced a little cry fest during our first time playing).
- As a parent, I'd love to see more positive affirmation when you hit the ball, score a point etc. Sometimes, the baseball game felt a little quiet, or when the kids would miss, Brooke's voice would come on saying "too far".

I want this so bad - I have really been wanting to get Wii Fit - but it hasn't been in the budget yet. We finally got a Wii for Christmas after saving for it for awhile and my kids LOVE LOVE playing on it. It is something that my whole family enjoys. We still only have the Wii Sports game and its fun but I think the kids would love to have something new to try! I really like the idea of having fun as a family - staying indoors - and still incorporating fitness into it!
ReplyDeleteI'd love that game for my family! We stay active by biking to the park and taking the long way home. Inside, we like to turn on the music and dance or jump on the little trampoline.
ReplyDeleteWe enjoy taking our daughter outside for long walks, or playing at the park. During the summer we are out at sunrise before the heat runs us indoors.
ReplyDeleteOur family tries to stay active as much as possible outside with tennis, bike riding, and swimming. We do, however, LOVE the Wii! When it's steamy hot in the summer or bitter cold in the winter we are always taking our Wii ages, hula hooping and doing Yoga on the Wii Fit (mom and dad boxing is a little too violent for the kids! ha). We would love a copy of Family Fitness for the Wii!
ReplyDeleteWe would love to win this game! My little boy loves to play Jumpstart online. We like to stay active by going on walks to the park. Inside we like to dance.

We love our WiiFit Plus (indoors) and would love another fun way to stay fit indoors! Outdoors, (when it isn't 120 degrees) we like to take walks and go on hikes!
ReplyDeleteThis would be perfect! My poor little monkey broke his arm and can't have his bounce house birthday party like he's been wanting. He's going to be 4, so you know the energy level I'm dealing with! And between heat & no water... it's been a fun 9 days already! This game looks great :)
ReplyDeleteWe stay active by going on family hikes. We also take our kids bikes to the park - they bike next to us, while we run.
ReplyDeletewe got the wii fit when my 4 year old broke his arm and we love it, would love to try this one too.
ReplyDeleteWe currently go for walks and have been pondering buying bikes for all of the family so we can bike together :)
ReplyDeleteWe live in a quiet little town so we walk around town a lot and we go swimming.
ReplyDeleteFor inside fun, we love to dance and we play Wii Fit!
This looks like an awesome game! My family stays active riding bikes and going on walks through the neighborhood. During the summer, we also spend a great deal of time swimming. For indoor exercise, the kids enjoy skating and riding scooters. In a couple of months, we plan to teach the children how to walk/run on the treadmill. They are excited to exercise in this way because in the past it has been only for Mom and Dad.
ReplyDeleteWe swim a lot! What a neat game...
ReplyDeleteWe play Wii Fit together.
ReplyDeleteWii...I mean "WE" go for walks/hikes.
ReplyDeleteBut since it's been so hot here in AZ...we do late afternoon "sprinkler jumping"...thats what my kids call it!
Oh yay, what an awesome giveaway. My husband and I have JUST started diets and were talking about exercising earlier AND getting a wii. Talk about great timing. Fingers crossed! To stay active currently, I throw myself into housework lol. The house gets really clean and I get a good workout.

I would love to win it. My family and I have been trying to get more active. We got the Wii fit and love it,but the kids want to try more games. My kids also enjoy our park cause it has ducks that we can feed while we are there.

ReplyDeleteWe picked up a new chicken yesterday, specially picked out by my 4 year old who was so incredibly pleased with his choice. We got it home and put it's 2 companions into the coop, my sons chicken was last to go in, and before we had properly let it go it had leapt out and flown off over the neighbours fence! Imagine the next 90 minutes, everyone wielding large beach towels, chasing this poor chicken round the neighbourhood! We eventually had to give up due to it becoming too dark to see her and though we went out again today to try and find her it seems she's literally flown the coop... Chicken chasing is definitely a way to keep active and fit!
ReplyDeleteooooo! i've been looking for something EXACTLY like this! really hope i win!
ReplyDeleteanyway, we stay active indoors using our Wii and outdoors riding bikes, taking walks, and swimming
We love to take walks together and we LOVE playing our Wii. My kids love to play tennis and baseball on it. My five year old is actually better than me on it!
ReplyDeleteOutdoors we run around with our dogs and swim in a friend's pool. Indoors we have a mini trampoline and we like to set up obstacle courses. This game looks great, it would give us something to do inside to stay active during the long winter months here (NH).
ReplyDeleteI would love to start going on walks with my family and even bike rides (of which I must get over my fear) but like most of us, the summer is hard to do anything outside so finding something that can be done inside is a fab idea.
ReplyDeleteThis game looks like it would be a hit with my four year old. She really loves WII sports and WII Fit but has a difficult time with the controls/motions due to delayed moter skills. I would love to get this for her.

We just joined the Wii world, so this would be a great game for our family. Outside we take family walks or bike rides. Inside we now play the Wii or the boys will wrestle each other which usually turns into a family monkey pile! Staciele(at)netins(dot)net
ReplyDeleteWe go on family walks almost every day. As for indoors, we don't do a lot to stay fit...this game would be perfect!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like so much fun. We love to go for walks. And when the weather is cooler we all go for a walk after dinner. And in the summer we just play in the pool!
ReplyDeletethis sounds like lots of fun!! When we have the opportunity we love using a pool for exercise! Mostly we have fun in our own backyard. I am trying to add more family walks to our schedule!!

My husband and I like to do all sorts of things. A few of our favs are... tennis, hiking, biking, walking, elliptical, pilates, dancing and soccer. Thanks for the opportunity. bowtiesnbutterflies@live.com
ReplyDeleteInside we usually do the Wii. Just dance or Wii sports. This game would be great! Outside, we really like to ride our bikes.

This sounds like such fun!
ReplyDeleteLately we garden together. We also like to go on walks.
its too hot to go out righ now, so the kids play hide and seek inside, tag. and we go and walk around walmart or winndixie sometimes just to get out of the house. They would love this game
ReplyDeleteWould love a chance to win this game! We enjoy lots of activities to keep moving! Everything from excersise videos to rock climibing.
ReplyDeleteWe also love the Wii indoors, and walks outside at the park or around the lake!
ReplyDeletei love any game that promotes getting up and moving!
ReplyDeleteWow, this is neat! Outside we love to head to our local college campus and ride bikes, chase friends, or just explore all the different types of trees there. When we are stuck inside, which happens more then we like, we head down to the finished basement and have a fun dance party. Both kids (3 & 4) just LOVE to dance!!!

We love doing things as a family, especially playing Wii. We would love to have a game that keeps little kids in mind!
ReplyDeleteI am training for a 5K so we all go to the track and run. My 2 year-old daughter runs and my husband pushes our 3-month old son in the stroller! We drink lots of water because it's hot outside! Indoors we do sit-ups and push-ups and jumping jacks. Anything to move and get some energy out!
ReplyDeleteI use the Active game on the Wii to workout when it is too hot outside. My preschooler works out with me sometimes, but this game looks like something she enjoys even more! We also like to go on walks outside.
ReplyDeleteIndoors, we dance. A LOT! We also head over to the gym and play basketball (since DH is a basketball coach).
ReplyDeleteOutdoors we like to take family walks :)
