Muffin Tin Monday

Welcome to Muffin Tin Monday! We remembered the events of September 11th, 2001 quietly and without fanfare. I haven't told my 6 and 7 year old about it yet. In fact, I am not even sure when the "right time" will be or if they will ever understand the magnitude and significance of that day.

I also had a sick-ish child at home today. So we opted for a laid back muffin tin meal. My son's new favorite fruit is the pluot (center). He loves them and was even more excited when I told him this particular variety's nick name is "dinosaur egg".

In this muffin tin: Peanut butter and honey mini sandwiches, organic pluots, sprite (for the tummy), fish crackers, bananas, organic gala apples

We also enjoyed bananas and apple fruit in a waffle cone.

My mom had given me some waffle bowls and I knew just what to do with them! I was inspired by Katie from La Jolla Mom and Celebrate Creativity.

  1. I have been seeing these pluots everywhere but have yet to try them out! The sight of the Sprite in your muffin tin made my mouth instantly water...I can't remember that last time I had one of those! :)

  2. I'm not sure when the right time will be either. My husband is currently deployed and I definitely knew this was not the right time. I just told my children that today, at church, we should pray for all those who are sad today and that if they saw people crying, it was because the grown ups might be sad today and that was okay. They didn't really ask much more and so we let it drop there. I know one day I'll have to answer hard questions though...

I have one undergoing surgery tomorrow so no meal for him. Hope your little one feels better soon!!!

  3. hope your son feels better. I told my 9 year old today about 9-11, it was hard. We prayed together. My 7 yr old overheard our conversation, but didn't seem to have many questions like the 9 year old. Not sure she has the maturity at this level to truly understand.

  4. I hope he feels better

  5. So sorry your son is not feeling well. Hopefully the Sprite helps.
I still am not quite sure what a pluot is, and I can't say I've ever seen one, or ever will in our neck of the woods. Looks yummy though.
The fruit in the waffle cone looks really good.

  6. The pluots you keep having sound really interesting - are they like a cross between a plum and an apricot? If so, yum. I've never heard of them before.

  7. this week looks great for everyone! I have been leaving comments and drooling!!!the organic pluots look interesting!!! i need to find some!

  8. Meant to stop by earlier and say thanks for the shout out!
